Leveraging long term, subscalp EEG to monitor and understand brain disorders.

What We Do

BrainScape is developing an end-to-end solution to collect, analyse and visualise continuous, long term EEG data. Our aim is to advance brain medicine using our innovative subscalp, minimally invasive EEG system that provides full head coverage. The device, Epios®, is designed for easy use outside the clinic and it can collect continuous neural activity data for months or years.  To view, annoate and analyse this continuous data we have Epios® Cloud EEG software and we will be adding EEG data analytics in the near future.

BrainScape will be a major device and data tool supporting solutions for the millions of people suffering from brain disorders.

Wavy Abstract Background

Broad Applications

The Epios® EEG system has a unique subscalp lead design that offers flexible configurations with up to 32 channels that can cover the whole head, coupled with ultra long term recording. The system is unique in how many applications it can be used in.

Brain Monitoring

The Epios® system records a broad range of normal and pathological biomarkers including Alpha, Beta, Theta, Delta & Gamma rhythms, supressions, epileptic seizure activity, sleep cycles, Event Related Potentials and Somatosensory Evoked Potentials.

Brain Interface

The Epios® system can provide the EEG signal as the input for neuromodulation and brain interface systems in animal and human models.

(*Early animal studies withthe Epios system have shown viability in spinal cord stimulation).

Performance

The high spatial resolution and subscalp placement of the Epios® system makes it possible to record changes in brain state in many environments.  Cognitive and emotional state and response can be captured via cortical (de)synchronisation activity and frontal asymmetry.

Pharma Studies

Epios is suitable for continuous brain monitoring in humans and animals to support drug trials, drug dosing studies, objective effectiveness of therapies or to monitor titration of therapy.

Our Story

At BrainScape we are driven by one clear goal. Improve the way neurological and psychiatric disorders are treated and managed.

First we need to study the brain over long time periods and in the real world so we can collect data to analyse.  Unfortunately current devices are not suitable for collecting such long term brain data in the real world in an unobtrusive and user friendly way.  Therefore the first step on this journey is to create a device that can collect the data.  Coming out of seven years of development at the Wyss Center for Bio and Neuroengineering we have Epios®.  A minimal profile, 32-channel, subscalp system that be worn for months up to years to collect continuous brain activity data outside the clinic.

With this exciting milestone achieved BrainScape Medical SA was formed in 2024 in collaboration the Wyss Center to commercialise Epios
®.

We would be delighted if you join us on the next phase of our journey to use Epios® to get the data that will help us understand brain disorders.
